The Vinata property, located 60 km south of the city of Chihuahua, State of Chihuahua, is accessible by road and has excellent discovery potential for large, covered, high grade lead, zinc, silver (copper, gold) carbonate replacement deposits (CRD) comprised of limestone hosted mantos, chimneys and skarns similar to the nearby producing Santa Eulalia and Naica mines (respectively 55 km NE and 55 km SE of Vinata) where published past production figures are respectively estimated at 50 million tonnes grading 315 gpt silver, 8.5% lead, 7.5% zinc, 0.3% copper with tin and gold credits and 25 million tonnes grading 155 gpt silver, 5.5% lead, 4.3% zinc and 0.4% copper.
The property and newly acquired ground covers Tertiary aged volcanic rocks overlying the favorable Mesozoic limestone formation. Evidence in the volcanic rocks of potential underlying mineralization includes historically mined manganese veins with anomalous silver multiple pathfinder metals and locally exposed strong argillic alteration. This type of strong argillic alteration and geochemically anomalous values of base and precious metal associated with the manganese veining, are very similar to the hydrothermal alteration products that occurs in the volcanic rocks at Santa Eulalia, which overlie a large part of the limestone hosted silver/lead/zinc deposits here, as well as other known CRD deposits within this regional trend . The extent of alteration and path finder signature in the volcanic rocks at Vinata is of similar aerial extent to that observed at Santa Eulalia. Given the known stratigraphic sequence of the flat lying volcanic package and the fact that the alteration and veining occur mostly in a valley, suggest the lower most portion of the volcanic sequence is exposed at Vinata, and therefore, the depth to the targeted limestone unit is not expected to be excessive.
Savant has an option for a 100% interest in the 11,800 hectare Vinata Property for US $2,635,000 payable over 5 years. The initial payment is US$85,000.
In July 2009, Savant optioned the Vinata Property to Selwyn Resources Ltd. Selwyn can earn a 50% interest in the property by spending $1,000,000 on exploration. Of this amount, $500,000 is a firm commitment. Selwyn can increase its interest in the property to 55% by a further expenditure of $500,000. Savant is the operator during the earn-in period.
In 2009, exploration activities including geological mapping, an orientation geophysical IP survey and limited exploration drilling of one of the target areas in the last quarter of the year which totaled 1,862.5m of diamond drilling in three holes. Drilling of the one target tested showed the volcanic rocks covering the favourable limestone to be much thicker than anticipated. In 2010 additional geological mapping and evaluation of other targets on the property is planned.
