The Isleña property is located southeast of the coastal city of Taltal in northern Chile. The property is strategically located within the graben of the Atacama Fault Zone, a major regional structure associated with several large copper deposits in the copper-iron belt of northern Chile.
The Isleña property currently consists of 1300 hectares of wholly owned lands acquired by staking. The staked lands consist of claims Linda 1-8 and 12.
The Isleña property is located approximately 285 km south of the mining centre of Antofagasta in Region II of northern Chile. The property lies about 24 kilometres southeast of the coastal fishing and mining community of Taltal in the Atacama Desert and the claims straddle the PanAmerican Highway. An electrical transmission line follows the highway. The airport for Taltal is located immediately northeast of the Isleña property.
The property is accessible by numerous gravel and dirt roads off of the PanAmerican Highway. The property is located within the Atacama Desert and is essentially devoid of vegetation.
The Isleña property forms part of a small mining district that has experienced a moderately long period of small-scale mining. The area contains numerous small workings made by local miners and prospectors. During the last 30 years, American, Canadian and Australian companies have applied more modern exploration techniques. Exploration has been hindered by the fragmented land holdings in the area.
Mineralization
Known mineralization on the Isleña property occurs as structurally and stratigraphically controlled silver-copper mineralization in recrystallized limestones and vein and stockwork gold-copper mineralization in volcanic rocks.
Exploration on the Isleña property has been historically focused on the Union Mine area and the California Mine area (the Isleña Trend) and in the Yessica Mine area. These areas are not part of the Isleña property, but are third party owned concessions surrounded by the Linda 1 8 and 12 claims.
Potential on the property exists for a deposit of copper - gold mineralization similar to the Candelaria Deposit of Freeport Macmoran or the Mantos Blancos deposit of Anglo American.
